Winter jackets

What jackets do you guys recommend for surviving out in the winter. Does anyone know Naketano? What is the Lowa of Jackets?

Not sure what you can get out in Euroland, but here my best experiences have been with work wear. I wear a Dakota parka with synthetic insulation I got for $90.

what do you mean by winter jacket?? My summer rain shell is also my outer layer in winter..and I just layer warmth underneath as needed depending on conditions...I start with fleece vest, then a fleece jacket if colder then a down sweater if colder still...thats my winter "jacket".

if you want just a big insulated down jacket then many options NorthFace, Patagucci etc...

Ski/Snowboard jackets are always my choice. They're the only thing that'll keep you alive if you have to walk around or spend any time outside in -30 celsius weather.

Any filled down or synthetic jacket with enough fill, length and windproofness (sufficiently tight at the openings - neck, hem, arms) will do. Dedicated "outdoor" jackets will be better than (most) fashion stuff.
How warm you want it depends on what you're doing... standing around requires more warmth than hiking or working.

I have this year just bought a winter parka for casual town use though. I wanted an Arc'teryx Thorsen Parka but couldn't find it in my size on sale and couldn't justify paying retail for a coat i'd wear for a few months of the year. I ended up picking up an Alchemy Equipment parka for half price which is similar style and spec.

Layering is key. I use a long sleeve shirt, a thermal sweater, and a scotch-guarded hooded shirt jacket in the wet Oregon winters.

Anything Carhartt.

Meant for working outdoors. They last forever and keep you warm as hell, especially if you layer underneath.

Just find one that works for your lifestyle. If you just want an outer layer get a rain defender hoodie.

I'm from where it was made. So far I have tested it in around 3-4c with a simple t-shirt and woolen knit jumper underneath and I was sweating.

I wear a Tin Cloth Crusier for my outter layer and a Single Wool Mackinaw Crusier. It's a great combo as both jackets are designed to fit together properly when layered.

When I'm working outside I'll stay dry and warm for 10+ hours in the rain or snow. Which is very impressive as in the same conditions my Helly Hansen rain bibs are soaked through. The tin cloth jacket has double layers on the shoulders, upper back, chest and arms. Plenty of pockets and extremely durable. It blocks all wind and cold. If you find yourself needing more cold protection get a double wool Mackinaw which is the equivalent of 2 wool jackets. Best part is both jackets are simple but very well designed. The snaps never come undone and if you ever some how damage the jacket you ship it back they fix it for free and ship it back to you for free also. Filson has top notch service.
