I think the biggest benefit though with pickup trucks is the ruggedness when you go out, with the exception of the Honda Ridgeline which is 100% for an urban-utility truck owner. Body on frame construction is great piece of mind compared to a wheezing and creaking uniframe crossover/wagon.
>>1623515Outbacks punch far harder than their weight suggests, it's just you have to do it in the fraction of the speed of a 4wd BOF truck or SUV and pray you won't get a flat. It's like the disingenuous Impreza poster from above says, they'll surprise people where you take them, but you're scraping shit you'd sooner forget while you're crawling at a speed you're too embarrassed to admit. They are best for developed campgrounds and for that cute little picnic along the scenic forest road.
I've met countless Subaru owners who are deluded by how "great" their crossovers are (myself previously included), but they don't hold a candle to a BOF truck/suv.
