I use birch wood for everything. The timber is attractive and extremely strong. Baltic birch plywood is wonderful to work with, holds screws great, the lamination pattern looks good, and it has no veneers.

You must have never been in a Scot's Pine forest. The bark is dark brown on the bottom and it turns into a nice reddish color towards the top.

These guys grow on sand, on top of rocks, right on the coast and where nobody else wants to grow. Unlike niggers they go out and take advantage of opportunities nobody else wants to take.
