What is the worst hike you have ever been on /out/?
As is only fair I shall start with my own tale.
>Be me, 21, hiking been a family tradition for all my life
>Little brother walked Snowdon at the age of 7
>Onna Princes Trust course
>Its good
>outdoors week
>Residential in the lakes, walking, swimming, the lot
Now for clarity's sake I shall paint a portrait of the team. Most of us are young and relatively fit. There are three exceptions, T, Lard and Princess. T is middle aged, but still fit. Shes good. It is L and P who shall be the bane of my residential. L is obese, a townie and disabled in a manner which affects her walking. P is overweight, immature, daddies princess and likes to take charge. Neither have any /out/ experience.
>Group is split into 2 teams
>I am with: Bro, Milaspiring bro, T, grill and... L and P
>2nd day has us on a hike
>Everyone has to go because "muh inclusiveness"
>Short trip up a hill then down into a vale and a few miles
>Easy trip
>We should be done in a couple of hours
>Boy was I wrong
We started off. I was navigator and Milbro the leader. The trail up to the top was your standard slightly rough trail-cum-wash. Easy enough.
>L gets a whole 50 yards and has to stop to rest
>I feel dread rising
>Sure enough she takes 5 minutes to recover
>Things only get harder as the trail progresses
>Eventually the group is staggering along a few metres then stopping for 10 minutes L to rest
>Short step-ups require the entire group to haul her fat ass up them
>The pace drops to a crawl
>In desperation to make the trailend before sunset I scout ahead for easy routes
>Milbro and the rest are fine with this
>Except P
>P waddles after me
>"anon no you cant go ahead you cant leave the group"
>'its fine P, Im looking for easy routes'
>"NO ANON STOP IT YOU HAVE TO COME BACK YOULL BE HURT"
>'ill be okay P I have experience'
>etc
>4 hours later we reach the peak and stop for a break
>2 miles of easy going trail have been covered
>we have another 6ish to go
