If you're outside, and you're sweating, you're hydrated, keep drinking water. If you're not sweating, you're dehydrated, and you had better drink some fucking water fast. No matter what, always drink copious amounts of water, and throw a gatorade or two in there for electrolytes.
Also if you do get stranded/lost on a hike in the heat, don't be a goddamn moron and try to conserve water. Find shade, if you have lights only travel at night, and drink as much water as you can. The reason behind not conserving water (as common sense would tell you to do in the desert) is because when dehydration and heat stroke start to set in, people get delirious, that don't know just how dehydrated they are. They think they're fine, so they conserve their water, and before they know it, they black out from heat exhaustion/stroke, and end up dying from it looking like a goddamn idiot because they still have water on their person.
