Heey /out/, first time hiker here about to loose my /out/virginity in the forrests of Osaka prefecture.
You guys got any basic tips?
And is it normal that my backpack weighs 20 kg?, really feels like i should dump some stuff..

Pic related, its my hotel room full of my shit i am going to take with me

Fewer clothes, but keep some insulating layers. No cotton, if you can avoid it. I usually do about 30 lbs for 3 days, but I've got some nice gear.

And leave the remote control at home.

Yeah i am going to leave a lot of clothes behind, but the problem is that i wont be returning here so i will never see those clothes again..
And i will leave the remote, dont think i will encounter a wild airconditioner which i need to control.

And yes : forget Cotton - Microfibre, Polyester, Nylon, Acrylic, Polar-fleece : some of these fibres are very effective in the cold, are very light, and dry very fast/shed water ; Cotton does NONE of these things : cheap $8 department store "sports" or outdoor shirts for example are brilliant ; wear three if you're cold. etc [and like the other guy >>162528 said : "post restante" [see wikipedia] it is called : post things to your own name care of a post office, with a "hold" date written on it.

Dude, I just hiked the Kumano Kodo last week from Tanabe to Hongu to Nachi and caught the fire festival. You definitely need to hike that trail sometime since you're so (relatively) close.
