How dumb is it to go overnight hiking alone?

Although I can socialize well, I prefer to take on my challenges alone, and to enjoy things alone.

I have experience, I was a boy scout growing up and I am able take care of myself; I powerlift. I'd have a gun for defense, and plenty of food.
I want to start experiencing the outdoors on "hardcore" mode, slowly progressing to wilderness living desu, Is this a good way to start?
