aliexpress is just uncertain, you either get the exact same product as the brand for 10% of the price, or absolute dogshit. It can be a good source, provided you know the specs of what you are looking for and are able to navigate the sea of suppliers, some are legit, some are scammers

I have the Naturehike cycling ultralight 1 person tent, it's a fucking tiny coffin, at 183 cm both my head and my feet touch the inside mesh. Also got holes in the floor after 2 setups on meticulously cleaned ground with absolutely zero rocks. IMO it's a LARPing toy, not dependable equipment.

I have the cloud up 2. Its certainly not a ultralight tent at 1.7 kg. but it's light enough for trekking if you watch the weight generally. For 1 person it's really great but it can fit 2 if you put your backpacks in the vestibule. So far the quality is good for the price. Easy to set up, warm and waterproof. The aluminum stakes are pretty flimsy though. I'd recommend it.

The rule for acceptable chinkshit stuff:
- no nameless item.
- no fakes
- no item rebranded under multiple different brands
- look for chink brands that are trying to make a name for themselves (Naturehike, Pioneer and 3F UL are such brands even if testimonies in this very thread show they can still fail). They will care a bit about quality. The downside is that they won't be - that- cheap.

You have no idea what you are talking about, naturehike is a low QC rebrand, i own some of their shit, i also own the same exact tent as in ops pic but from different eu brand and i'm 100% sure they didn't design it too (it was probably bigagnes). Those 3F UL trekking pole tents are also ripoffs of some ultralight shit that costs 4x as much.

But for a tent that has non sloping sides like a wedge or dome type whereby the water can pool, you need a minimum of 3000mm hydrostatic head 5000 being ideal?

Just save up the extra money and have something that won't give you a wet sleeping system via leaks or condensation build up, trust me, either is the difference between your bag being efficient or a damp "Fuck it's 30°F but it feels like 3!!!" Nightmare....

I got a knock off viper bag on one of those chinese sites and ever since sheep follow me if they smell me. They sort of raise their heads and smell the air and will follow along any fence line and try and get at the bag. I don't know what they made it out of but they're extremely enthused by it and I stopped using the bag eventually.

I've been meaning to get one with the increased quality as a reason but mostly because decathlon has a shitty white tent as a two door, and the single door green turns into a fucking sauna come spring/summer.

I used one on the second outing and I'm pretty sure the holes weren't there by then. I also got holes in the inner mosquito mesh, I don't think a ground sheet would have helped with that. I heavily suspect the corners of the zip lock bag the tent pegs were in poked those. Anyway, either Naturehike UL, or UL tents in general are not suitable for actual outdoor use.

Another homeless here, why would one need a tent if they already have a tarp? I own a tent but put it in storage and just use my tarp with bivy. If your reasoning would be wind then I would suggest there being tarp pitches that deal with that. I understand that everyone has personal needs/tastes so not trying to blast you, just wondering what the reasoning is, and perhaps offering the alternative considerations. I greatly prefer tarps, being less weight/bulk, and very versatile in setup potentials.

I got mine from a bongland store called All4Outdoors. I think there's still a voucher code floating there for a decent discount. The product you linked seems a bit more versatile than the wind cloud but the one I have has the ultimate ease of use.
Also, if you're going winter camping, you're going to need an underblanket. Preferrably paired with a quilt/comforter blanket. I don't know if there's a replacement for the Aegismax Wind Hard-quilt but that one had quite the following in the poorfag circles

A tarp is an unnecessary extra weight in the backpack, duplicating the job of the fly. In the case of car camping, I agree with you. Build a decent tarp and use any cheapo tent and you're golden.
