>>1632068I agree, but it is unfair to write the island off as having no areas of nautral beauty.
It's also an excuse that so many people use for staying in. And it's not a valid one. There is a great mix of easy-very challenging /out/ing on Britain.
The Island's main limiting factor, like most small Islands is it's size. So when I'm in the UK I usually limit /out/ing to an over nighter, or two nights at the most, as there really isn't enough space to spend more time. Avoiding crowds is not hard either.
I think something a lot of people seem to forget when comparing the UK to the USA is that the USA is very roughly a similar size to the whole of Europe. So you really could be comparing European countries to states. Especially as travel around Europe is so dam cheap, plus our trains seem to be much more reliable. When I was in CO I was told the train between Denver and Fraser could be delayed as much as 7 hours. The two times I caught it it was delayed by ~2 hours each time!
Brits just have this weird inward looking head space. My current routine is to /out/ at the weekends in the Lakes and Wales during the winter while I work and make money, with the odd longer trip to main land Europe, then once I've saved up head to another part of the world and enjoy what they have to offer.
>>1632114Most people don't camp so the quietest times are early in the morning and later in the evening. I have had the summits of all major welsh and english hill to myself by hiking at these times of day.
>>1632160>even mexicomexico has some awesome outing. this is such a retarded statement
>>1632195And with Norweigian air hanging in there flying across is pretty affordable atm. Don't be closed minded though anon, come over to europe and enjoy what we have.
