Not sure if this is /out/ enough to be on here, but it involves knives and hunting. So my father has decided he wants a new hunting knife to use for skinning whitetail deer. After being like "Dad, just buy a Mora" he was all muh guthook. I want to make him a knife, since in reality I owe my love of the outdoors to him taking me hunting. I have made knives before, but with him not being experienced like at all with anything outside of caring for a stainless steel folder, there is no way in going to make him a nice 01 Tool steel knife just so he can rust the fuck out of it. I was thinking 440c would be a good steel to make his blade out of, but I cant seem to find blank sheets of it anywhere. Does anybody know where to obtain any? Also general home made knives thread.
