Well this thread is off to a great start.
I'm sort of new to this stuff and I'm building my first bug out bag, any tips on what to include besides foot/water/shelter/first aid? I'll have my CCW as well of course

This is a good one. I've seen it described as a "deer camp" tool bag. What you need at the "deer camp" beyond the truck tool roll. Another is you GHB tool kit, mini boltcutters, water valve tool, flashlight/head lamp... what other tools would you put in a get home bag?

A mountain bike with panniers, all in a green for woodland or grey for urban shit might be a good idea so you can yeet off trail and lean on the fucker when you need to. Also makes a good temporary shelter. Stay off roads. Don't go near them ever if possible. Cross them sparingly. Get maps printed out of your local area. Laminate them to waterproof them.

A bag that contains necessities to get you home from most places you travel, i.e. work, school, shops, etc. It usually assumes that you will be walking because cars and trains are down. Think a bag you have when going out on a day trip somewhere like the mountains or forest park rather than a bug-out bag.

Depending on distance, most people will be able to walk home from most places they go within a day or two, so you will not be needing stuff like camping gear, fire starters, water purification kits, etc. You will more likely just need a raincoat, a bottle of water, a few energy/chocolate/breakfast bars, spare physical cash, small first aid kit and a pair of comfortable shoes if you aren't already wearing them. You can fit most of this stuff in the front pocket of a decent backpack, leaving the main pocket for your work related stuff like laptop.

Well, that makes more sense than the out bag or whatever it's called. To be honest, that kind of stuff is basically what you should be keeping in your car in the first place because you never know when your car might break down for one reason or another.

You'd think so, but you will be amazed how unprepared most people are for even simple things like cancelled trains, dead phone battery, rainstorms, electronic/card payments going down in shops, etc. These sort of things happen to me 2 or 3 times a year, I assume it happens to everyone at a similar rate, so you'd think people would learn and prepare. But no. They rather bitch and depend on other people doing all the work than help themselves.

I carry a 20 litre waterproof backbag with the stuff mentioned in >>1632347 except shoes that I'm wearing anyway. The other things I carry (apart from keys, wallet and phone) are a lighter, a pack of tissues, a phone power bank that also doubles as a flashlight, an ikea pencil, deodorant, gum, heat patches (for my back pain that always seems to flare up during train delays in winter), a clean pair of socks (brilliant morale boost when your feet get wet), and a pair of gloves because it's now bloody cold where I live. I still have room for my lunch, laptop, cables and papers.

I admit that many of these things are personal, so everyone should pack their bag as best suits them, and that everything is used at different frequencies. For example, I've only used the lighter once to light someone else's cigarette, but the prepper in me wants to keep it anyway. On the other hand, I use the power bank and the water bottle daily. None of this stuff is for some outlandish end-of-the-world scenario, it is all common sense prep.

I do have a lot more stuff in my car though, including proper first aid, flashlights, fuel, clothes, blankets, sunscreen, utensils, water filter, car kettle, jump leads, books, condoms, etc. If my bag is for personal emergencies and to get me home, then the stuff in my car is for impromptu picnics, car emergencies like flat tyre/battery, or being stranded/homeless for a few days which thankfully hasn't happened yet.

In order of importance:
1. Clothes. What you have on your back may, or may not be adequate. An extra layer, plus something rain/windproof, extra socks, and gloves (you ain't doing shit with numb fingers, and grabbing thorny bushes is way easier with good gloves).
2. Food, and water. Forget hunting, fishing, and setting traps for small woodland animals - you ain't got time for that. Also, don't underestimate the morale-boosting effect of a hot meal. But bring some cold food as well, because you may not get a chance to cook.
3. Shelter. At least something that can be used to make shelter in a hurry, and an emergency blanket (mylar), to either cover yourself, or line your shelter to keep the heat in.
4. Tools. Headlamp is a lifesaver. A good powerbank, to charge your phone/headlamp. Knife (full size, since not everyone has a fixed blade edc), and hatchet, maybe z multi tool, and some cordage - bank line, or some of the light stuff climbers use for securing gear (not actual climbing) - comes in handy.
