I'm a beginner trying to plan a solo camping trip in a national forest in mid November. I've never camped before. I'll be borrowing a tent and sleeping bag from a coworker and buying everything else I need myself. I'm in Georgia but I'm planning to drive out west to turn this into a combination camping trip/road trip, probably about as far as Texas is reasonable for me. I've been doing quite a bit of research into the laws, how I'll prepare food, keeping warm, etc. over the past few weeks.

1) How stupid of an idea is this (going alone, no experience, camping overnight in the woods)
2) Any recommendations for where to camp? My only requirement really is no snow, and ability to camp for free, which I understand most (but not all) national forests offer

Any other tips are also appreciated.
