1. Keep three knives with you when trekking
2. Your primary knife is yours. It is at kept in its sheath by your belt all the time. It never leaves your side unless it's in your side all the time.
3. The second one is what I call a "lenders knife". If someone ask if they can borrow your knife. You go to your backpack and give them this knife. It also serves as a back up if you by any chance should drop your primary.
4. Your third knife is your ultimate reserve (survival knife). It is only taken out if you have lost your primary knife. It's not bad if this knife also have the ability to make fires.
