Barbed wire around the outside, then hedges, then several hundred feet of open ground, then gabion walls in close. They actually look good, painted and filled with natural stone. Well water, enough solar to run most stuff during the day (gotta work on storage capacity), a small workshop, and ~1000 sq ft of raised garden beds. Experimenting with aquaponics, currently have a couple 55 gallon water drums begging for a taste of my jig saw. Chickens and goats are on the horizon, maybe next summer. Already trade homebrewed beer for a split of a cow with the neighbors so lots of beef, almost too much.
Guns ... four cheap scattergats hidden here and there. Three AR15s, one for me, one for the wife, one in reserve. Four handguns, two Glock 19s, an old 1911 (from grandpapy anon), and a CZ75. One Ruger RPR in 300 win mag for long distance perimeter defense. Trying to figure out reloading but I got a lot of other shit going on right now and it frankly isn't a priority. Try to keep up on training, go to the range at least once a month.
With the land, the house, and the improvements ... Im about 300k in, and about 40% paid off. The downsides are my drive to work (which I only need to make twice a week, thank god) and living out innawoods can get boring if you don't have projects. Positives are like minded friendly neighbors and some fucking peace and quiet. Being able to see the stars again is worth the price of admission by itself. Last ... my house doesn't look like a survivalist bunker. It's still nice, and still livable, and definitely resellable.

I keep 6 months funds in the bank and ~6 months gold in a safe at the house. The gold is more a long term investment than a SHTF thing, but it's convertible if needs be.
