What are your typical winter clothes like when going out for extended periods?

I work in the elements, plan on going camping this season and am going clothes shopping tomorrow. Anything yall recommend?

Buy Chinese brands on Amazon but get their nicer offerings, not the cheapest ones.

Don't waste money on name-brand gear.

Pay close attention to the sizing chart and measure yourself first before buying anything.

You will need at least 2 sizes larger on average in asian-sized clothing.

Wool base layer + midweight fleece + good fill down puffy + good waterproof/windproof hardshell.

Those are basically the basics. Everything else is just accessories. Also don't forget wool bottom base layers as well and a good pair of wool socks with winterboots that are both water proof and insulated, else your toes will go numb after a few hours of walking through snow. Gaiters are recommend if you're going to be in deep snow.

Where the fuck do I get a decent down puffer? I have one that I really like but it's a bit small on me, it's very warm though and very puffy, I would like to find something a bit bigger but everything I can find is so thin

This is a good place to start, you'll generally develop a more specific taste as you gain experience but the building blocks are pretty similar
Base layer - transfer moisture away from skin
Mid layer - retain moisture and heat
Shell - shield from outer climate and manage airflow through layers
Puffy - retain heat while stationary or extremely cold.
I personally use a mesh baselayräer, a wool terry mid layer and a puffy poncho that doubles as an underquilt for my hammock.

I wear hunting clothes from the 70s, milsurp, and custom made stuff. If I'm breaking trail or climbing I just wear a wool board shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
Retired SAR bud gave me two trash bags of synthetic stuff I'm going to try out at some point though

I've gotten really good 15$ pants from amazon and they work fine in canadian winters in -45c. even years later they are holding up fine. fuck levis/

Also when you winter camp do you sleep in the baselayers you have on or change into a different set of sleeping baselayers?

I wear a pair of thermal pants and undershirt for the first layer. Then i wear long pajama bottoms and a thick thermal shirt. Then i wear a pair of carhart or dickie pants and another longsleve shirt. I wear a thick carhart jack and a beanie. Thick wool socks and leather georgia boots. Thick thermal gloves. Im from louisiana but i learned how to dress in layer for working outside in colorado which i unsderstand isnt even that harsh compared to many places. I think the coldes ive ever been was working in the snow at 5 below but ive work with many people who claim to have worked in -40.

The thing about cotton is that it soaks up water and takes forever to dry. This might be fine for shorter /out/ings where one will at least relatively soon return to a home, but for longer term being able to dry clothing much quicker is very important.

The water is in the air as well, there's little escape. While not "waterproof", I find the Propper BDU pants to be pretty excellent. They are something like 60/40 cotton/poly twill which is a surprisingly good feeling and functional, very tough blend.

If I'm only out for a couple of hours I wear a base layer, fleece jacket or a knitted sweater and my ski jacket. If I'm staying out extended periods of time I also bring a thick down jacket to switch into during times when I'm not moving around and need extra insulation.
