>>1637170>so you're for more electric cars and wind/solar energy productionNo, I'm not go be stupid and making up shit elsewhere.
>>1637171>its going to take up some space. but then what?A nice hill covered with vegetation, wildlife and trails will immediately cease to exist and will be turned into nothing more than a huge giant open pit with nothing but mining byproducts and waste.
is it polluting a lot?
Full scale work hasn't started yet but undoubtedly, a sweet waterfall and course of water will be highly affected, and so will the people relying on that water.
>is it visible im the horizon from far away? Yes, if it goes ahead it will be the biggest open mining project in Europe. How can that not cause huge destruction even everything is done by the book? Which will not be done, the mining concession is already involved in a corruption scandal.
>does it kill local wildlife? The region where it's located is little over than 10 miles away from the borders of the only national park in Portugal (it extends to the Spanish side too) and is the home to various threatened species, including wolves. So yeah it will affect wildlife.
>places where there are absolutely no fucking reason to liveand that's exactly why people choose to live there, they want nothing to do with cities and city life. They have animals, hunt, grow their own food and live their own life doing just fine. All local residents oppose the mining, and rightly so, as they have said they prefer clean air, water and views than some stupid new road or a couple hundred bottom tier jobs exploiting the land.
