Well there were false rumors going around claiming that the vaccine caused autoimmune issues. Multiple studies were made and not one showed a correlation between the vaccine and any sort of autoimmune disorder.
Eventually the demand for the vaccine was too low for the company to keep manufacturing it, so they withdrew the vaccine from the market in 2002. Many, many cases of Lyme could have possibly been prevented had this vaccine been kept on the market. Too bad people are hysterical and ruined it for the rest of us.
There is still an effort to create a Lyme vaccine since there is a significant increase in Lyme disease cases being reported. With that in mind, we should not give up hope. One day we'll be safe, bros.
