Need to buy an Opinel from a shop in the UK, Decathlon no longer sell them, Where do I go?
Another cheap but "usable" knife will suffice too

Always wondered whether these are technically illegal in the UK because of the locking blade.
As the locking mechanism is not automatic and is subtle, I bet no police would realize it even has that feature. That makes Opinel a great knife for use in the UK (it's a great knife anyway)

depends on what you want it for. it's all i carry backpacking, but all i use a knife for while /out/ is food prep. it's perfect for that. but if you want to field dress a deer or play caveman and make yourself a spear you could certainly find tools better suited to those tasks.

I'm knocking forty and have been carrying pocket knifes in Britbong for thirty years (it was a rule of my Scout troop that you had to carry one at all times). It may be just because I'm ypipo and never lived for very long in cities (although I have lived in them), but I haven't been searched by police since I was 18 and I don't wave my knives around like they're meant to be weapons. It really isn't a big drama to have a pocket knife.
