>>1641102>liveIf you mean "live" in that you are in the middle of the forest that is on fire and hiding in the box allows the fire to pass without you turning into a toasty snack then yes. I don't think the OP wants to have his mailing address at one.
>>1641239The fires usually pass by extremely quickly. Like frighteningly quickly for the most dangerous part. My only concern would be making sure it is closed off to prevent air loss or smoke exchange while the fire is overhead. Check the stuff in this image and do the calculations yourself. There should be plenty of time even if there's standing room only for the fire to pass and smoke to clear enough to exit. The latter part, the smoke could be the main problem as wind can keep the smoke over the area for far longer than the fire is dangerous. Outfitting the wildfire bunker with breathing/filtering equipment for several people would help a great deal.
>>16413085 inches of soil is more than enough to block heat from a forest fire. Most of those look like they are buried deeper than that. The one in the video is quite deep, unlike the one in the OP image. You can test this out by building a campfire over some soil, like in a metal bucket and testing the temps at various depths. Wet soil will transfer heat much faster, fyi. Keep in mind that a concentrated fire like a camp fire would be far hotter for the soil than a forest fire since the hot coals are touching the soil directly with a campfire.
