I have done a bit of fire fighting, mostly farm land with some remnant bush. If the fire gets into the bush we just leave it. The only time we actually put fires out is if they are destroying something of value, pasture, machinery, crop, buildings.
This summer we had a small lightning fire go through the neighbours property. We put one face out while the other face got into some bush. All we did after that was light the down wind side of the bush and sink beers while it burned. In total about 15ha of wheat and maybe 80ha of bush went up.
