You've probably hear the coin trick : using a silver dollar or other milled coin to create a barking sound in the load port of a shotgun. In my experience, it doesn't do much good. You can sit and get all the squirrels in a patch of visibility, and walk a bit, or just walk. I sit because I tend to hurt my hips stepping into holes while looking up for squirrels.
The love nuts, and acorns, so head for oaks, and local nut bearing species, like pecans.
Here's my question : Where the fuck did the deer go? I've been feeding 4 does a corn and acorn mix for a month now. 2 weeks ago, the neighbor poached a yearling right before my brother in law comes down for his hunting trip he's been looking forward to for months. We set out feed like normal, waited, and froze out asses off. The deer are gone. I think the neighbor spooked them off the area. So, how can I get them back? Should I cut a clearing in the woods to encourage travel, or would that only spook them more?
I'm also worried if me even being in the woods is spooking them, despite them being previously used to human scent.
