I get that your friend shouldn’t have fucked up YOUR knife and left it for you to fix, but knives are tools, and meant to be used. He did use it, and this is the kind of minor shot that happens when things are used for real.
Go read up on Horace Kephart’s favorite knife. It originally had a 5” blade, and used it for EVERYTHING for 20+ years. By the end of his life, the blade had been reground and resharpened so many times that it was down to 4-1/2” in length. That is a hellacious amount of use. And if we are honest with ourselves, there’s still another 100 years of use (or even more) left in that knife now before it really isn’t useful anymore.
So many people are keeping their shit so pristine you’d think there were millions of museums scattered across the nation just to hold all of priceless trinkets every dickhead on every block has. You bought this shit to use, didn’t you? Why are you now afraid to use it or see it used?
