There are a couple popular guidebooks, but if you follow those routes then you meet people who are used to tourists, which means they're greedy for your money. When you go off the beaten track you get couchsurfing invites and dinner invites every day. I seldom have to use my tent.
January and February are nice because the almond trees are blossoming. April is also good. In summer it's too bloody hot and everything's really dry through October. But if you want to climb anything really high the snow becomes a problem. Crampons are really handy in winter.
Some cool places include Souq Sebt Talmakant, Zaouiat Ahanesal, Tafraoute. M'goun was great.
