For simple food prep an Opinel will work well.

You want something tough get an ESEEE 3 please note thiner blade stock than the Izula or ESEE 4.

You want an all around for food only look at the Ken Onion 4.5 Chefs knife it even has a sheath.

What in the unholy Opossum piss are you going to be prepping with it?

If you want to spend more, step up to Shin knives.

Okay I should probably have clarified that it was for camping/hiking needs, maybe gut a fish cut some veggies for soup that sort of stuff

The name of the knife is Sissipuukko M/07, it's a very modern military version of the Finnish puukko-knife.

probably something between the size of 8-10
if you use it for food better take stainless, I find the patina can sometimes add a metallic taste when you use carbon steel

but really anything that isnt fuckhuge and has a droppoint or a straight back will do the job
