Until youtube was created and batoning knife destruction videos started becoming popular, no one in my area even knew of or heard of anyone using a knife to baton anything; in the same sense as not knowing people who cut towards themselves with a knife. It is simply something that you never do and are taught from the first time you are given a knife as a child to never do.
