The lightest setup would be the tensa solo or Handy Hammock, 2 poles, 6 stakes, and cordage, not that much added weight. Minimal setup time.

I've even seen DIY versions out of PVC pipe and wooden dowel inserts. It's totally doable.

You can put a hammock anywhere you can put a tent, but you can't put a tent everywhere you can put a hammock, tents are pretty limited, hammocks not so much.

Top- and underquilts arr basically the top- and bottom hamves of a sleeping bag. And because the underquilt attaches under the load bearing surface, it won't lose it's loft while you lay on it, negating the need for separate sleeping pad. An ultralight tent set-up will be somewhat lighter than what can be achieved with hammocks but the difference is grams, not magnitudes. Also comparable weight set-ups tend to be cheaper with hammocks.
