Bought this one a few weeks ago.
"Disappointed" is a good word to describe my feelings about it.
"Half-baked" describes the system/user interface.

Spent most of last week fucking with it. The basic shit takes way longer than it should. Some maps load, some load half-assed. Finding POI's takes minutes instead of seconds.

Really wanted this one to work; it's got some neat features. But the basic stuff either difficult to use or missing entirely, so it's just not worth it.

I'll hold onto it for a little while, do some comparisons/reviews between the two, then it's off to ebay. Needs a lot more work on Garmin's end before it'll work for my applications.

Holy shit was I disappointed when I unboxed that thing, I really can't believe I paid £160 for that piece of shite.
Agreed the garmin user face is diabolical (still) screen resolution is shit,the base map supplied is a fucking joke, takes forever to update map when you zoom in...only redeeming factor is the batteries last 24hours.
I've thought of selling it and grabbing a edge810 for my bike but I think I might not bother, totally put me off garmin as a make.
Why the hell other companies haven't taken over garmins market is unbelievable.

The eTrex's aren't that bad IMO.... good for a basic receiver.

60/76 was an upgrade from those - added color display, expandable memory, better receiver, sensor package option, faster proc, etc. Those have been out for a while.

Few years ago they superceded the 60/76 with the 62/78 ... same screen resolution, harder to read since they dithered all the fonts. Still needed another 6 months or so in development before going to production.

I think their biggest problem is supporting so many different products, they can't dedicate the time to making any of them good and useable.

Pic is a screenshot from the 78. Dithered small fonts, blocky bigger indicator font is hard to read, and half the map is fucking GONE.
