Don't think there's a best. Remote areas of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and even Colorado, Oregon, California and Washington all feel pretty similar. Just really depends on where you want to live and what you're trying to do.

I'm going to be a nurse so as far as careers go I won't really be limited on what's available. I like the changing weather of Ohio but I feel like our parks and landscapes leave a bit to be desired

North Carolina, Georgia, or Tennessee. All of them have attachments to the AT, national parks, and prime public hunting land. Plus, they’re all within a decent distance to SC that has better beaches if they’re not raped by hurricanes. Not Myrtle, though. It’s a cesspool.
