The only thing not that great about imageboards is that while there is archives on other sites, it's hard to retrieve posts or pics from a long time ago. But then again that can also be an advantage.
Ironically, anonymous imageboard users have the capacity to be more open minded. If you go on reddit or twitch and make arguments for libertarianism or some other ideology, you will forever have your username attached to those posts. Also in a lot of subreddits, there are little flair things so you can brand yourself to something like an ideology. If you're going to get into a debate with someone, your reputation is on the line. On 4chan, someone can sweep the floor with you in a debate and there's no repercussions to you - but like a debate is supposed to be, you might be persuaded and switch sides with no hit to your reputation.
