Well I got my rifle and I went out and retraced the steps of John Shaw. I found the waterhole where his body was found and I can tell you right now there is NO FUCKING WAY this 45 year old, unfit man who had just eaten Christmas lunch with his mother willingly left his vehicle his food and his water, then walked through that country. It took me 15 hours total pushing hard and using a GPS with a market route. I slept in my car last night with my rifle in my arms. The whole way back I had it shouldered and I was freaking the fuck out, I swear if another hiker had walked within 800m I would have blown their fucking head off, and to make it worse it got dark. Once I saw that waterhole the immediate realization that he did not willingly walk there left me shaking. I kept thinking I was being followed and basically I will never do this alone again. Just thinking about it makes my hairs stand.

RIP John. You went missing in 2015 and were found deceased in 2016 but I have not forgotten you.
