It's basically a hatchet with a long handle..
From what I have read in the last year there is arguably better value/dollar than Gransfors currently, but as far as my particular axes go I think it is great. The extra handle adds very little weight over a typical hatchet, but much more versatility. It's primarily intended for chopping limbs, which it does well, but I have used it frequently for making kindling as well by splitting half/quarter logs. Gransfors does (used to) come very sharp 'out of the box' and has good steel and hafts.
