sc/out/s,
i come to you seeking wisdom. knowledge. experience. gear elitism.
you see, i have a bit of an issue. i have a sleeping bag. it's functional, mummy style. has some vents in it. a removable and inflatable pillow. the zippers are apparently made of the pubes of angels, considering how delicate they are.
what i am seeking is a NEW sleep system. something that will fit my needs better. i know the majority here will recommend down. i'm a little concerned about the special care needed for that. also, i kinda hate down anything. having down pillows irritates me.
things to consider:
i live in the south east United States, and the majority of my innawoods activities will be in that area. specifically, in Georgia. the heat here is more of a factor than the cold. humidity is also a factor.
my current bag takes up a HUGE amount of space when rolled up. i'd like something a lot more packable. the thing rolls up to be about the size of a daypack full of stuff.
something durable is important. easy to clean is also a thing.
if you guys have a suggestion that isn't traditional, i'm all ears. i have debated getting a wool blanket and just saying "fuckit" but dat itch....
pic is not my sleeping bag, but i figured it would draw the appropriate experts.
