>>1669291I agree with the second part, but I think you've missed the point of what I said, maybe instead of "leech off" I should have said "depend upon" each other, which my grandparents definitely did. My grandad worked and provided money and everything that goes with it- a home, food, etc. but he also depended on my grandma who organised most logistic things and also cooked, cleaned, cared for the kids and so on.
My point is firstly that women aren't unnecessary as you seem to think, and in a good relationship you need both roles filled.
Secondly- with modern technology, lots of the everyday duties of women have been usurped or made far easier. Social coordination isn't so important now when everyone is far more isolated, cleaning takes a tenth of the time it used to, cooking is very simple and childcare (at least in my country) is outsourced from age five. So all of a sudden the female role has become less valuable, leading to relationship insecurity and a void of activity.
In a world like this, why wouldn't a woman adopt "roastie" behaviour? There are things she could do but they aren't fundamentally needed for her life to go on, and in a world where for young adults casual sex is the norm and any offspring will be guaranteed at least to survive and have a decent chance at success, it makes perfect sense to leech off men and move on the way they do.
