I've been killing rattlers for 30 years.
I have a dozen in my freezer right now that I need to skin (it was a decent year). Only about 1/3 of them had rattles. Guess how many rattled before I killed them.
Zero.
About 10,000 people a year get bit. Not because they were fucking around with them- but because the rattlers were curled up under a garden hose or bicycle in the yard. Maybe wrapped around a car engine when someone went to check their oil.
Rarely do they cause death, but 9 out of 10 times the cause excruciating pain and loss of muscle tissue- along with a very expensive week long stay in the hospital.
You want your 7 year old daughter to go through life with 9 fingers? Fine, that's on you.
But for those of us that actually live around them- we decide to remove them with prejudice.
