Christmas miracle in the "desert"! Last report 15" fresh powder, winter storm watch through next Tuesday above 6800'.

Lol, it's in N. Gila co just below the rim, north of Payson. There's actually a lot of tiny cabin communities below the rim in Gila co. Strawberry, Pine, and Christopher creek are some of the nicer ones I've actually been through, and more accessible. Can only get to some of them via dirt roads/forest roads.

My mom lived in Young for over 10 yrs, you'd think I'd know of it!

Pity The Antlers bar and grill burned down. I haven't been back to Pleasant Valley since she moved down to Payson. Quite possibly the best/out/ town in AZ!

Nice, yeah I love it up there in rim country. I've only passed through Young once, definitely lots of amazing /out/. I'm gonna try and head up the rim on monday, looks like this last storm dumped a pretty good amount on the upper rim.

Snow on the peaks just east of Black Canyon City and to the west on the Bradshaws.
Coming into Sedona today, Wilson Mtn, pic rel. Gotta love the Global Warming!

Hiked on the Rim a little bit today. Posting some pics. Elevation was 7,520ft (2290m), high temp was about 28F (-2C), snow depth in the area was between 18-40 inches (46-100cm), in the area I hiked it was about 18-24 inches, with deeper snow trending eastwards.
