Family has a fifty dollar limit on whoever we're buying for, I don't necessarily care what i get so i made a wishlist with a mishmash of things between 5 and 20 USD. Got a fine 80$ wood lathe knife set . I just checked my old wood lathe I bought years ago and left it sitting outside under tree.
Never tried using it because I only carved with chisels and mallet.
Looked up ytube vids on it and it seems easy. Went home and dusted it off and sprayed wd40 on moving parts. Fit a small chunk of wood end of branch I made into walking cane.

Turned it with a flat wood chisels and works like magic.
I spend alot of time daywalk /out/ and studying wood for carving ideas. I will get some wood bowl turning tools next.
