I need a new tent

Hey /out/.
I am looking for a new tent for Christmas.
My budget is about $100 and I need a tent that can sleep 2 people. I don't plan on doing most of my camping from spring until fall. My main issue is that I'm 6'6", so I'm having a hard time finding something that fits me and can still be easily carried in a backpack. Is there anything out there for me? Or should I look for alternatives?

I've slept under mine in not only rain, but 60 mph tornadic winds. The horizontal rain blew under it a little due to the direction it was facing. I haven't had issues with it running under, but poor site selection would probably result in such.

Not gonna happen man. Like >>1665003 said a tarp tent style setup is really your only option. I'm not as tall as you (6'3") and I've never found a standard tent that I can sleep comfortably in. They just don't make backpacking tents long enough.

You can setup a tarp so that it covers the ground as well.

Third for tarp setup, I'm 6'2" and also can't find lightweight tent options
Hammocks are also a consideration if you're worried about wet ground but as >>1665052 mentioned you can avoid that with a little know-how
Hammocks can also be hard for us tall bois to fit comfortably

Bug net, head net, bug bivy. Think of a tarp more of a rain fly, it's basically just a more modular tent design. You can add or take away features as you need.

Where do you camp out mostly? A tarp would be a great expriment but probably not the best option if you camp in exposed, windy areas.

Diff anon here with a question regarding tarps, how large of a tarp should I get? I'm interested in getting one over a tent (for money reasons) and just pair with a bivy and sleeping bag. im pretty small, so is 10x10 a decent size?

Mine is 12x12 (REI Camp 12) so maybe you can get an idea how what you see in pic related compares to your needs. Keep in mind that a bit extra allows for more versatility, including having some folded under for flooring. There are also pitches that feature "door" flaps.

Personally I think it's best to avoid the folded over floor. It will damage the part of your tarp that is on the ground. Just get some tyvek. It's an awesome ground sheet. The lighter more package option is window insulation film or plastic drop cloth but you sacrifice durability.

Find something that’s down. I know Marmot has a lot of down sleeping bags, but just be very aware that shit gets expensive real fast
