A lot of what you're doing is going to be spot specific and sometimes knowledge of a spot is key
As for general information
Bucktails are almost always a safe bet, try different retrieves, as you can probably fish them a dozen different ways
Fishing into the night or the sunrise are usually the best times I've found
It's difficult for me to fish both so if I've got friends around il fish into the night, if not generally il try to get there a few hours before sunrise and see if anything is around
If a spot isn't hot don't be afraid to go search for somewhere else , especially durring the fall run
the amount of times I've had a friend report a few fish at his spot, enough to keep him around and decided to try somewhere else to find fish blitzing and manage to get one every cast, or the opposite where my spot won't really be producing and a friend just a few miles away reports in fish every cast
Binoculars also are great for this if you're fishing long open stretches of beach
If you're fishing at night near any big boulders or anywhere there's a strong current I would always if available buy a few eels and liveline them, they might go to waste if bluefish or schoolies are around but they're also candy for big fish
If you give a bit more insight to what type of areas you're fishing ( open beach, Rocky points, rivers, salt ponds, breachways ) etc I may be able to go into more specifics as to what I personally like to fish
