They have the Sierras, Mojave, Redwoods, two volcanoes, and the highest peak in the lower 48. You can literally get any climate you want within just a few hours of each other. Just last week Tejon Pass got several feet of snow while 20 minutes away people were laying on the beach. The entire state is a hot/warm summer mediterranean climate which is one of the most desirable climates and also happens to be one of the best for agriculture.
California is also one of the few Western states which the bulk of is not elevated on a plateau like Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. This allows for much greater variation in elevation and much greater variation in climate. You can literally go from a 90 degree day 30 ft above sea level in Sacramento to 8200 ft and 30 degrees in less than 90 minutes.
There are also plenty of tundra, subarctic, and desert regions. These faggots simply have it all and that is all there is to it.
