Passive Income On private land

So I'm 3/4 to my /out/ goal

I have the land
(580 acres in Northern NM)
I have about 25 head of Black Angus cow's
I have my own cabin built

Only one issue
I still have to have a job 17 hrs away to support the property tax and other expenses of the property

What I am asking is if anyone knows any passive ways to make income on my land where I can still live on it and afford to survive.

Why not set up some semi-improved campsites and rent them out? With 580 fucking acres you could even set up a pretty sweet trail network.

Find a few level spots here and there, put down some picnic benches, sink a few fire pits.

See whence you start thinking this way you could set up some pay to use showers, a small laundromat, all sorts of stuff. A few vending machines. Vending machines that sell stuff like nail clippers, tampons, socks, etc.

You could set this up to make a KILLING, it all depends on how much money you want to make. Market this as some kind of hippy dippy new age all natural camping experience and watch the dollars roll in.

Yes I do and also water rights

The lower 1/4th of the property is very lush and regenerative and that could be a possibility. Personally I don't know the carrying capacity of cattle for the land per acre but the cows kinda just mosy through the whole property I haven't fenced them into an area to rotate them in command just yet

This might work, but the upfront costs for the hives aren't at all trivial. Bees forage in a 3 ish mile radius around the hive, so there's not enough land to create an organic apiary. Also, they'll need reliable water access and shade. The desert typically provides pretty decent forage though.

That's actually a pretty decent place for a few hives. You won't be able to fit enough for real economies of scale though, so you'll need to sell the honey as local at growers markets at a relatively high price.

There is no sustainable cattle grazing land anywhere in NM (or most of CO, for that matter). If you had the sense to think outside of the box, you'd have realized that marketing alternative products to the hippies of northern NM, like say Goat (especially goat dairy), or Alpaca, is a much better enterprise, because it takes you out of competition in a commodity market in which you must compete directly in a global economy from.land that is marginal at best for what you're trying to use it for.

But if you're looking forward to the bank foreclosing on you in a few years go ahead.

Depending on cover, not fucking many. West Texas scrub land has stocking rates of roughly 10 acres/cow+calf for native vegetation or 5 for manufactured pastures. God help him if hes on forested land cause hes looking at 50+acres/cow+calf. The lands worthless and the 580 acres already told us that. Someone already took the best 60 acres of that section and dumped the rest I can almost guarantee it.

They are some of the best farmland in the world in general. Sadly, much of that land is filled with corn we do not need supported by a retarded subsidiary program lobbied for by the profits from said subsidies.

Which is why I said "most" of CO. There is exactly one place I know of in NM would work for a small number of cattle: The Truchas land grant. But one needs to be born into that weird Hills have Eyes style land grant situation to have access to that, which OP clearly does not.

I meant ecologically. Cattle have completely fucked up and continue to fuck up basically everywhere they are in the west; they completely fuck up places where they wouldn't be able to live on their own, they're underwritten by incredibly inefficient agriculture and water use and in the lush little mountain meadows that can tolerate (relatively) their grazing activities they end up displacing the native wildlife.
