Seems like the most claustrophobic thing ever, no,light, no greenery, just rocks and caves in absolute darkness.

Who was this? Sounds like a horrible way to die.

All I think of is entering a cave, then having the cave flood due to rainfall, then having my way out blocked. Otherwise I'd probs enjoy it

Really fucking tired of hearing about this guy's death. You're more likely to get traped in a cave and drown than something like getting stuck upside down and die. And a easy way to avoid driving in a cave is not going into a cave when it's raining.

petzl if you wanna spend $100.
black diamond if you wanna spend like $60-80.
If you want to just go and be decently safe then get a skateboarding helmet. don't do any repelling and you will be fine. I used one forever and had no problems. you can take some bicycle tubing and strap lights to it. I modified one to fit a petzl headlamp to the front.

All depends on the cave you go to. It can be as easy, or dangerous, as you choose. I've not had any close calls personally, but did have a bigger guy get stuck in a pinch out. Lucky for him it was a sandy bottom and we were able to dig him out.
