I saw a weird looking rodent running on the road tonight. it skittered from end of the road to the other in a very crab-like fashion, and then it stopped on the curb on my side. The thing crossed the road in 10 maybe 15 seconds, very fast as it was a two line street; at first I thought it was a plastic bag getting kicked by the wind. I got close, not too close because I had a dog, and got a look at it just huddled on the bike lane like a log. From what I could tell it was either white in fur, or a light color that shined under the street lights. It was very long in length, and I thought it looked like a mole or a mole rat with fur. I say this especially because it had no discernible face or eyes, maybe because it was dark, but it just appeared as a long oval of fur. However, those creatures aren't native to my area here in the southwestern desert, but it could've been a pet gone loose. I couldn't stay with it for long because my dog was going berserk. When I passed over the area again it was gone. Anyone have any idea of what it could've been? Do people keep moles and mole rats as pets? What else could it have been?
