My observation is that it's usually loser dads who use the outdoors as an escape from society. They make their kids get into it because they are worried about their kid not having any friends, and create a self fulfilling prophecy because being a scout is terminally uncool.
That's the norm anyway, there were a handful of based groups where it was a bunch of bro dads hanging out drinking beer.
