I enjoy it. Gets you into more weird places than just car camping, gives you more a of a home base and long term set up than backpacking, and the actual act of navigating a truck in rough terrain can be fun. Good for getting people into /out/ stuff beyond just going to drive in campsite but who aren't ready for backpacking yet. If your sticking to trails or areas that don't get to bothered by some vehicle travel (hard rock, sand, gravel, etc) than it's fine.
