Bros I’m trying to assemble a home emergency kit this weekend in case of well any emergencies-boogaloo, SARS outbreak, anything really.

What are some basic things I should be including? I already plan on buying the obvious (food that last a long time, water, medical kit, etc)...is there anything I’m missing?

Hundreds of gallons of water and maybe a way to collect and purify rain water
Solar chargers for phone, small electronics
Ham radio or SDR
Recreational shit like acoustic guitar, whittling knives, or cards
Weaponry and items to secure your perimeter
Source of fire, whether it's propane tanks or wood
Meds, first aid, maybe some weed or booze for morale

Some ideas for both SHTF scenarios as well as normal emergencies like power outages:
>drive a shallow well with a pitcher pump and test it to see if it's potable
>start a potato crop (not now obviously, but read up on it)
>install a wood burner stove if you don't already have one and live in a place with a real winter
>buy a saw, axe, and splitting maul to process firewood if you need to and keep 2 face cord cured and ready to burn
>keep and practice with an effective way to dispatch small game (if you can buy a .22, do so - otherwise a pellet gun)
>dig a pond on your property and put fish in it
>learn how to replace toilet paper with washable cloth wipes (learn how to wash them too)
>build a chicken coop, they're relatively easy to keep and make you food
>keep a variety of nails on hand, you can use them to repair stuff or trade them to people

I am writing a shopping list for stuff to put in my bug-out bag. In a real SHTF scenario, I should probably leave the city to escape the looters.

Necessities I have identified so far:
>Drink and eat
>Sleep
>Poop
>Self-defense
>Communication?

I would like some /out/ advice on the best way to sleep outside when bugging out. Tarp, sleeping bag and mosquito repellent?

I haven't thought about the importance of communication. Should I bring some sort of radio?

I will bring toilet paper to prevent shit ass

For self-defense I can only bring a knife because I need to join a shooting club or get a hunter's certificate before I'm allowed to buy a gun.

To eat and drink:

>Saw and fire steel to set up a campfire
>Pot for disinfecting water from streams and a pan for frying fish
>Fishing line and hooks
>Cantine for storing water

Just go by hurricane/earthquake/blizzard/tornado/flood preparedness guides. You can actually make it into a fun and productive hobby. I've saved hundreds of dollars a year learning about food preservation for my hunting/fishing/garden surplus. Also making your home secure and prepared for things like minor power outages is great for peace of mind and insurance premiums.
