>>1686110It's true. As an 'out' area it's really not that amazing. Most of the terrain is just chaparral which IMO is pretty boring. There are a few really cool redwood forests but they are usually pretty small and you have to pay to enter them because they are national parks. The beaches are cool but it's hard to access them and every beach that is easily accessible is going to have about 200 little huts made out of washed up branches which are basically as much of an eyesore as rock cairns. Pic related, imagine a beautiful beach but you have to walk for like 3 miles to get to somewhere where you can't see one of these.
All that being said, I think that if it wasn't so unbelievably crowded it would be pretty nice. But unfortunately it is crowded, and with the worst kinds of people. Rich leftoid normies from SF and Silicone valley love to go down there. Lots of white numales with Asian gfs. Also carloads of all the usual foreign suspects e.g. Indians, Chinese, etc. Trash everywhere at every lookout and people making their own little trails all over the cliffs, posing for instagram photos and all of that. I actually unironically stepped in human shit when I was at a lookout overlooking a beach when I was there. Probably an Indian. Traffic jams along the road at certain times of day too.
I don't really know what to say about it. Maybe if you went on a Tuesday or something it wouldn't be so bad, but the effects of overpopulation are everywhere to be seen in Big Sur.
