I really want to get into trapping/tanning but its illegal in my state. I just wanna harvest some yotes (which have no bag limit and you dont even need a tag). Would it be wrong for me to say fuck it and do it anyways? What are the odds I would even get caught?

we don't need to hunt to live, and we don't need to trap to hunt. as a society we accept that it's reasonable not to inflict cruelty purely for sport. when and if that changes and we need to hunt coyotes for more than fun and grandma's undies then that might change.

It's legal here, but technically not allowed in the county I'm in. It has never stopped me before though. Yotes, coons, hogs are the most common I trap

Morally, no it is not wrong for you to access the resources of nature that all natural men were free to to use not very long ago, even if some synthetic government says no.
If whatever you wanted to trap would be threatened as a species if you were to kill it then that may be a different discussion, but seeing as how that's not the case with coyotes anywhere in the USA, that is not a moral issue here. Good luck trapping, if I were you I'd practice skinning and tanning something small and cheap like a squirrel or rabbit before attempting a potentially expensive coyote.

Clearly you have no trapping experience if you think getting a coyote that's ranging several square miles to put it's paw onto 2 sqaure inches is easy.
And not everybody hunts just for the challenge. I hunt and trap mainly for meat, fur and conservation. The good times and challenge to that is just a by-product. The Indians who poisoned rivers to kill loads of fish weren't thinking about the challenge of it, they were trying to get food.

Coyote are canines. Peoples dogs are attracted to the same things. If there is even the smallest chance of anyone's dog being within a 4 mile radius then i wouldnt do it. If that dog is is under 50lb then don't even think about it.
