Yeah it's prolly gonna rain, shouldn't need a watch to tell you this. Feeling warm? Take your jacket off. Etc. Thermometers only give accurate reading if they've been off the wrist for 10+ minutes. You can use it to find out the temp if you're innatent in the morning, that's about it.
It should be rugged, and keep out moisture, but it's probably not gonna get run over by trucks any time soon, so G-Shocks seem a bit over-engineered. Resin-rot will start hitting them after 25-35 years anyway.
In other words? Get an SGW100.
