Pick up bigger rock, throw down at smaller rocks until one breaks into a sharp edge, it's time consuming but works.

I knapped a bunch of arrowheads out of claystone a few years back and fixed them to some crude arrows.

Yea and rivers.. I've found a rock i think was chert but wasn't able to confirm.. Had nice sharp cleavages but wasn't very durable..

We have iron ore and old furnaces everywhere so that would really make more sense as a skill to cultivate..

Everything here is just sedimentary rocks or granite

So I guess this is the new meme right now...well I actually have been doing this before it was cool so let me give you one tip: use safety goggles or close your eyes every time you come down on the rock. If you think an eyelash in the eye is irritating you've never had a shank shaped piece of stone in there.

I'd say it's more important to not breathe any of the dust in, and to ESPECIALLY not knap inside. Both of these put you at risk of silicosis.

Flint is a sedimentary rock anon.

Just find a rock that flakes easily and doesn't crumble, especially on the edges. It doesn't necessarily have to be chert or flint.

Flint is a type of sedimentary rock, but there are a lot of sedimentary rocks that are not flint. That's why the native americans traded the flint they found in Ohio and it ended up all over the country.. because it isn't naturally occurring everywhere.
