Planning a trip to the Adirondacks and struck recently by the realization that most of it is still civilized town and tourist trap bullshit. Any suggestions on spots/trails to take best advantage of the park while maintaining a reasonable separation from fat tourists? I'll be going while it's still cold and slushy so hopefully that should deter most would-be hikers. Also, can I bring my rifle? I know it's commie NY but in my part of the state walking around the woods with a rifle wouldn't be viewed as unusual at all
